Linebacker Cabinda drops Syracuse commitment, pledges to Penn State

New Jersey linebacker Jason Cabinda flipped his verbal commitment from Syracuse to Penn State on Wednesday morning, according to a Rivals.com report. SU’s Class of 2014 is now down to 14 incoming recruits, including three linebackers.

Cabinda’s Twitter bio now includes “…Penn State Football Commit class of ’14 #WEARE.”

Cabinda is a 6-foot-1, 215-pound recruit from Hunterdon Central High School in Flemington, N.J., and has a three-star rating by Scout. He verbally pledged to the Orange on July 1, but kept the Nittany Lions in the race throughout his recruitment. PSU extended a scholarship offer to Cabinda late in September.

The three linebackers that are still expected to join Syracuse’s program next year are Parris Bennett, Colton Moskal and Zaire Franklin.
