Syracuse to host Binghamton for the first time since 2004

CORRECTION: In a previous version of this article, Lazarus Sims’ name was misstated. The Daily Orange regrets this error.

Syracuse will host Binghamton at the Carrier Dome on Dec. 7. It will be the first time the Orange faces the Bearcats since 2004.

The two teams last met in December 2004, and the then-No. 4 Orange clobbered Binghamton, 86-56 behind Hakim Warrick and Gerry McNamara. SU holds an all-time 4-0 record against the Bearcats.

While the Orange comes off the first back-to-back 30-win seasons in program history, Binghamton’s past isn’t as picturesque. The Bearcats finished last season 3-27, with a 1-15 mark in the America East Conference.

Former SU guard Lazarus Sims is an assistant under Binghamton coach Tommy Dempsey. In his senior season in 1995-96, Sims averaged 6.3 points and 7.4 assists per game.
