Kinder lines up as wide receiver on 2nd day of practice

After taking snaps at quarterback with the third team on the first day of training camp, John Kinder is apparently no longer even playing the position.

The junior lined up as a wide receiver during the first 45 minutes of practice on Tuesday wearing a green No. 14 jersey, representing a switch of positions. Terrel Hunt, Drew Allen, Charley Loeb and Mitch Kimble played quarterback for the Orange in their second preseason practice, wearing white jerseys.

Loeb practiced with the first team for some of the 45 minutes available to the media. Hunt spent a few minutes watching Loeb, while Allen ran with the second team – as he did the day before – and Kimble took snaps with the third team.

Many consider Kinder’s speed his best attribute. A switch to wide receiver could give the 6-foot-2, 187-pound former quarterback from Inwood, N.Y., a chance to maximize his strengths.
