Syracuse picks up verbal from another linebacker

Syracuse landed a verbal commitment from another Class of 2014 linebacker, Jason Cabinda, on Monday. He announced his commitment via Twitter.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound outside linebacker from Hunterton Central High School in Flemington, N.J., is unranked by most scouting services, but considered a three-star recruit by ESPN. Cabinda, who also plays running back, had offers from 13 other schools, according to Scout.com, including Atlantic Coast Conference foes Boston College and Maryland and former Big East rivals Connecticut and Temple.

Cabinda joins Parris Bennett, Zaire Franklin and Colton Moskal as the fourth linebacker in the seven-player class. Cornerback Rodney Williams, quarterback A.J. Long and running back Naesean Howard round out the Orange’s current Class of 2014.
