Staff: Syracuse splits pair over weekend

Syracuse (9-8) split a pair of matches on the road Friday and Saturday. The Orange defeated Connecticut (4-9, 0-3 Big East) Friday morning before falling to Harvard (8-4) Saturday afternoon. The loss ended a four-match winning streak.

The Orange swept Friday’s match 7-0 behind Amanda Rodgers and Komal Safdar’s ninth straight doubles victory and Breanna Bachini’s 6-0, 6-0 singles win.

But Syracuse failed to keep the momentum going into Saturday as Harvard defeated the Orange 6-1. The Crimson won the doubles point by taking 2-of-3 doubles matches. The Orange only took one of six singles matches, as Amanda Rodgers won 6-3, 6-4 on court one.

The Orange will play on the road again this weekend when it travels to St. John’s on Saturday for an 11 a.m. match before visiting Rutgers on Sunday for a 10 a.m. match.
