Syracuse receives verbal commitment from North Carolina wide receiver

Syracuse picked up a verbal commitment from North Carolina wide receiver Corey Cooper on Sunday, Scout.com reported.

Cooper is the second player to commit to the Orange since Scott Shafer became head coach. After taking an official visit to Syracuse this weekend, Cooper tweeted his decision to commit to SU on Sunday.

“I will be going to New York for college and attending Syracuse University,” he tweeted.

Both Scout.com and Rivals rated the 6-foot, 185-lb. Cooper as a three-star recruit. Cooper had offers from a host of schools, including Connecticut, Illinois, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina State, Oklahoma State, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Cooper is the 17th member of the Class of 2013 to commit to Syracuse.
