Before coaching Syracuse to 899 wins, Jim Boeheim played for the Orangemen from 1962-66. He was a team captain his senior year and played alongside former roommate and Hall of Famer Dave Bing.

One of the first stars under Boeheim was Roosevelt Bouie, who played from 1976-80. Bouie and fellow team leader Louis Orr formed the "Bouie 'N Louie" show for the Orangemen.

Boeheim's teams have won at least 20 games in every season but two in his coaching career. Syracuse has played in the postseason (NCAA Tournament or National Invitation Tournament) each season but one — 1992-93, when SU was kept out of the postseason due to NCAA violations.
