Syracuse coaching staff named Big East Coaching Staff of the Year

The Syracuse men’s soccer coaching staff has been named the 2012 Big East Coaching Staff of the Year.

Orange head coach Ian McIntyre and his assistants Jukka Masalin and Mike Miller led Syracuse to a 12-6 season, including a 5-3 record against Big East competition. The 12 wins are the most the Orange has had since the 1988 season. It was a complete turnaround from last year when the Orange finished up 3-12-1.

SU finished second in the Big East Red Division. The Orange hosted its first postseason game for the first time in program history last week when it fell to Notre Dame 4-2.

McIntyre is in his third season for Syracuse.

In addition to the honors for the Orange’s coaching staff, defender Jordan Murrell and midfielder Jordan Vale were named to the All-Big East Third Team. Vale and goalkeeper Alex Bono were also named to the Big East All-Rookie Team.
