Thanks for the write-up! Glad you guys are fans. I just wanted to
take a minute to respond to the article, because we're actually headed
in a different direction from what the article implies. We definitely
believe in accountability. Providing students with an true, fair and
comprehensive view of properties & landlords is our biggest goal.
There are a ton of great landlords out there who honestly care about
their renters. There are also, unfortunately, several awful ones who
couldn't care leas. However, the models of most "landlord ranking" sites
don't approach the situation objectively; they often end up as "gripe
boards", where students post negative things that may or may not have
been the landlords' fault. We're looking to provide an objective service
that takes into heavy account verified sources -- city records, for
example. Our first product ("RentReport") will offer renters an unbiased
view of the property, similar to a CarFax. The majority of the
information in the report will be information that's currently available
on public record but renter feedback will also be included. We want to
provide an accurate & balanced representation of the landlords &
properties.
