Letter: Beck deserves credit for performance

I know a lot of people that were disappointed with Beck’s performance on Oct. 27, including me. It was short, sad and he didn’t even take advantage of the break dance mat that was positioned on the center of the stage.

But 20 minutes after the show, my view changed completely. After waiting patiently behind the theater to watch him leave, The Flaming Lips lead singer Wayne Coyne came out and told us that Beck had food poisoning and had to leave immediately. After signing a few autographs, Coyne also told us that the reason there was such a long break in between bands was because Beck was throwing up backstage. He added that he was surprised that they didn’t cancel the show. Knowing this, I think we should all give Beck a little credit.
